Holy Trinity Church was built at the expense of Herbert Minton by George Gilbert Scott in 1842, although the apsidal end to the chancel was added in the 1860s or 1870s. Inside, not unexpectedly, is an astounding display of Minton tiles, their high glaze and huge variation in design being the dominating factors. They are almost everywhere - pavements throughout, the little vestry beside the north entrance, along the aisle walls, behind the altar, and of course in the choir, where a memorial tile marks the grave of Minton himself. The photographs below give some idea of the range of tile designs and patterns to be found in this surprisingly little-known church.
